The Food Pantry is sustained by nine churches in eastern Mecosta County. With wide community participation in food drives and funding, the pantry served 4678 individuals in 2016. This is a drop of 444 from 2015. The Pantry serves a wide geographical area, impacting 24 communities. In 2016, the highest levels of need were in Barryton, Mecosta, Remus, Big Rapids, Morley, Rodney, Stanwood. God's Helping Hands receives no federal or state funding. Donations are tax-deductible. We are a community taking care of our neighbors.
2016 statistics probably reflect the hard core poverty in the area. Those that are not being impacted by the generally improving economy.
